About Backstage Whisper
In the beginning, Backstage Whisper (formerly known as Music, Art and Comedy and Kicking It With Tony) was a weekly, live one-hour radio talk show on Blogtalk Radio.
The show’s creator, comedian Tony Scaduto, led the show every Tuesday with his co-hosts, and fellow comedian friends, Sean Dough and Michael Gabriella. The show was produced by his long-time friend, Gina Yarbrough.
Tony’s main focus for the show was to bring awareness of his illness, Wegners Granulomatosis, a non-curable disorder that causes inflammation of the blood vessels, and restricts blood flow to various organs.
Despite his illness, and lengthy stays in hospitals, he was able to host his show from San Diego, CA. Guests on the show included: Directors Richard Gabai and Dan Goodman, actors Ted Lange, Tom Dreesen, and Richard Anderson, comedian LaTice Klapa, Spanish maestro of the guitar, Angel Romero, actress, author Shari Shattuck and her husband, Joseph Paul Stachura, and many other notables.
On March 2013, Tony passed away from complications from Wegners Granulomatosis. Despite this tragic loss of a friend and host, Dough, Gabriella and Yarbrough continued with the show in honor of his memory.
After many shows, we decided to transition the show from radio to the web, focusing on music, art, celebrities, indie bands, exclusive stories and interviews, photos, and much more. We will also include special segments that will take our audience behind-the-scenes of unique talent. The concept of the show is the same, except we are now doing a video version of the radio show.
We know Tony would be proud of our accomplishments.
The Host
Sean Dough
Born in Maryland but moved often, Sean knew from an early age he wanted to be in the entertainment industry. Starting right out of high school, Sean was an on air personality with WOCQ 103.9 FM – a small hip-hop and R&B radio station.
It was there Sean cut his teeth with improv comedy and voice work. In Texas Sean attended KD Studios, a small acting college in Dallas, but he knew Los Angeles. was where he must go next. Soon after his LA arrival, Sean was playing lead guitar in the Hollywood band S.Y.C. Bois. After a couple of small background parts in some major movies and commercials, Sean turned some of his attention to comedy, and was hooked instantly, after losing his comedy virginity at the Gypsy tea room, in Burbank CA.
Sean went on to study with comedy greats such as Sandy Shores, Matt Taylor, National Comedy Theater, and The Groundlings. Since 2009, Sean has been doing musical comedy in San Diego, which he now calls home. With a wide range of singing abilities, and the need to do as many voices as possible, Sean is always entertaining. After running a stop sign and receiving traffic school, Sean met the extremely talented and funny Tony Scaduto, who helped mentor him into the “WeirDough” he is today. Since 2011, Sean has been playing guitar, singing, and writing for Vicious Phishes, an acoustic hip-hop band in San Diego. Sean performs comedy and music all over the Southern California area, and is a must-see, if you have the chance.
