Portland, OR–A new trailer has been released for Don Thacker’s sleeper festival-hit Motivational Growth, starring genre-legend Jeffrey Combs.

The film will hit VOD worldwide on September 30 (via Devolver Films and Indiecan Entertainment in Canada), Blu-Ray and DVD in Canada on the same date, and DVD in the U.S. the following week (via Parade Deck Films), on October 7.

In Motivational Growth, Ian Foliver (Adrian DiGiovanni), a depressed and reclusive man in his 30s, finds himself taking advice from a growth in his bathroom after a failed suicide attempt. The Mold (‘ReAnimator’ star Jeffrey Combs), a smooth talking fungus born of the filth in a neglected bathroom, works to help Ian clean himself up and remodel his lifestyle. The Mold has big plans for Ian, but they may not be as innocent as they seem. A labyrinthine-narrative follows, full of colorfully-drawn characters and gruesome body horror. “The Mold knows, Jack. The Mold knows.”

The DVD release will include a commentary track (with actors Jeffrey Combs and Adrian DiGiovanni, and director Don Thacker), a photo gallery and trailers. The Blu-Ray edition will also include an hour of behind the scenes material.

Bobcat Goldthwait’s Trades Comedy For Horror

Willow

Willow

A young couple find themselves face to face with a terrifying evil when they venture into the heart of Bigfoot country in WILLOW CREEK, director Bobcat Goldthwait’s unique spin on the horror genre. It creeps onto Blu-ray and DVD from Dark Sky Films and MPI Media Group on September 9.

Looking to make a splash with his research videos into the existence of Bigfoot, Jim (Bryce Johnson, Pretty Little Liars) and his skeptical girlfriend Kelly (Alexie Gilmore, Labor Day, God Bless America) take a camping trip to the mountains surrounding Willow Creek, California, a small town where famous footage of the legendary Sasquatch was filmed decades earlier. Jim believes Bigfoot exists and is intent on finding the very spot where the huge, hairy, man-like creature supposedly strode.

But before long, Jim and Kelly are lost in the woods and discover that someone – or something – is stalking them. With each passing night bringing unknowable danger, the two must use all of their cunning to try to make it out of the forest alive.

Special features on the BD and DVD include: Commentary with Writer/Director Bobcat Goldthwait and Stars Alexie Gilmore and Bryce Johnson, Deleted Scenes, Bryce Johnson’s “The Making of Willow Creek” and more.

Writer-director Bobcat Goldth wait takes a radical departure from his recent string of black comedies (God Bless America, World’s Greatest Dad) to create a film that shows there are still surprises and shocks to be had in the found-footage genre pioneered by The Blair Witch Project. In her review in The New York Times, Jeannette Catsoulis pointed out Goldthwait “engineers a static, almost wordless 19-minute shot inside a tent that generates more tension than many horror directors achieve with a swarm of Foley artists and a healthier budget. This canny exploitation of the power of silence is unnerving.” Tom Huddleston of Time Out London called the film “a whole lot of jarring, juddering fun.” Brian Orndorf of Blu-ray.com said, “It’s smaller in scope and horror ambition, which automatically makes it more enjoyable than most of its brethren, creating a mix of local color and camping disaster that’s basic but frightfully effective.” “WILLOW CREEK does everything a little bit better than others of its kind,” praised Scott Tobias of TheDissolve.com.

CHICAGO–A documentary film of the groundbreaking exhibition David Bowie, created by the Victoria and Albert Museum in London, will be screened at 100 movie theaters across the United States on September 23 to coincide with the exhibition opening at the Museum of Contemporary Art in Chicago.

The exhibition features a remarkable collection of photographs, stage costumes, and other rare possessions from the David Bowie Archive. The exhibition was the fastest selling in the Victoria and Albert Museum’s history, and is now on a global tour that has already traveled to Toronto, Sao Paulo, and Berlin to universal acclaim, opening next at the Museum of Contemporary Art in Chicago until January 4 2015.

“We are delighted that as this extraordinary exhibition travels the world, people will get the chance to immerse themselves in a cinematic experience from the original London show,” said exhibition curators Victoria Broackes and Geoffrey Marsh from Victoria and Albert Department of Theatre and Performance. “The film offers fascinating detail about key objects from the David Bowie Archive, commentary from special guest contributors and a fantastic soundtrack!”

The film takes the audience on an extraordinary journey through the David Bowie exhibition with special guests including legendary Japanese fashion designer Kansai Yamamoto, Pulp front-man Jarvis Cocker, and other collaborators, to explore the stories behind some of the key objects that document Bowie’s artistic career. The exhibition curators, Victoria Broackes and Geoffrey Marsh, provide fascinating insight into the most memorable music videos and original costumes, as well as more personal items such as never-before-seen handwritten lyrics, album cover artwork, set designs and diary entries, which reveal the creativity and evolution of Bowie’s ideas.

“We are thrilled to be working with the V&A and MCA and to give anyone who is not able to get to Chicago the chance to experience this incredible exhibition,” said Grant Calton, CEO of Omniverse.

The documentary was filmed on the closing night of the Victoria and Albert exhibition in London and directed by Done and Dusted’s Hamish Hamilton, the BAFTA award-winning director of the Academy Awards and the opening ceremony of the London 2012 Olympic Games.

“This documentary brings to life how David Bowie embraced creativity from a variety of fields including performance art, music, dance, theater, and the visual arts, and fostered collaborations with artists of all kinds throughout his life,” said Michael Darling, Chief Curator of Museum of Contemporary Art. “We are fortunate to have this film’s debut coinciding with the MCA’s opening of this extraordinary exhibition.”
